Solar power plant

10/06/2025

Energy management is one of the key endeavours of Novak, izpušni sistemi, d.o.o. in the field of sustainable development. In January 2023, a solar power plant came into operation on the roof of the production, storage, administrative and servicing facility at Ob Potoku 15a in Novo mesto. The system provides electricity for the company’s needs. By generating green electricity, we contribute to reducing our carbon footprint.

The solar power plant is also connected to the grid, which means that any surplus electricity is fed into the grid.

Positive impact on the environment

A solar power plant has a distinctly positive impact on the environment, as producing electricity from sunlight is one of the most environmentally friendly and cleanest methods available. Production processes according to the latest standards and high-quality products guarantee a long service life and reliable electricity production.
The positive impact of a solar power plant on the environment is demonstrated by the fact that a 1 MWp solar power plant produces approximately 1 GWh of electricity annually, which is equivalent to the consumption of approximately 267 average Slovenian households.

Compared to electricity production from lignite, a 1 MWp solar power plant in Slovenia saves 1,100 tons of CO2 for each year of its operation. This also represents an annual saving of 580 tons of lignite, which over twenty years of operation adds up to more than 11,000 tons of lignite being saved. Such a reduction in CO2 emissions is equivalent to 1,200 newly planted trees.

Taking into account the average emission factor for CO2 emissions, which is 0.49 kgCO2/kWhe (the Regulation on Methods for Determining Energy Savings), the total reduction in environmental burden from CO2 emissions in the case of FE NOVAK would amount to approximately 187.85 tons of CO2 per year.

The operation of a solar power plant is therefore safe and environmentally friendly.
