What is a flexible pipe?

A flexible pipe is an important part of the exhaust system, as it dampens the vibrations and shocks that occur during engine operation. It is made of several layers of resistant stainless steel material, which provides flexibility and a long service life.

Its main tasks include:

pika absorbing the engine’s movements that occur when starting off and driving,
pika reducing mechanical loads on the entire exhaust system,
pika preventing damage and cracks in the pipes.

If there is no flexible pipe in the system, vibrations can cause damage or a break in the exhaust pipe, leading to more expensive repairs. Therefore, the flexible pipe is a key component for quieter, safer and more reliable vehicle operation.

Purpose and operation

Flexible pipes perform several important functions:

pika Absorption of vibrations and shocks: The engine produces vibrations during operation, which are effectively dampened by flexible pipes, reducing the possibility of damage to the exhaust system.

pika Adaptation to engine movement: When starting off, the engine changes its position, which requires flexibility of the pipe to prevent unnecessary stress and deformation.

pika Thermal expansion compensation: At high exhaust gas temperatures, materials expand and contract – flexible pipes ensure that these temperature effects are not transferred to other components.

Our product mix

pika 3-layer flexible pipes: These pipes are braided and more affordable, suitable for standard applications.
pika 4-layer flexible pipes: These pipes are sealed with multiple layers, providing greater durability and additional protection against wear.
